The Daily Dose

friday sep 17

Yo yo,

Had sort of a busy day and the wifi at my new airbnb is struggling.

It takes a long time to create the links - some of the projects I mention won’t have links.

Let’s see what we got…

Marsh - Fable (Extended Mix)
[Anjunadeep]
Oh yeah here we go, Marsh is driving the space ship for a journey. Nice deep and slightly darker vibe on this, I love that.

I'm flowing to this, I recommend you listen with NO SKIPPING. Take the ride, it’s nice.

Jan Mir, Sandberg, Svensson - Endless Pandemic
[URSL]
I am loving this track. I already listened fully 3 times today.

That means a lot, especially on a Friday. I’m usually eager to jump around and check new tracks.

I found myself coming back to this one.

Listen with good equipment, the bass is tasty.

Mathhias Meyer, Budakid - Sweet Ease/Hybrid Society
[Watergate Records]
Can’t help but get excited when I see these names together.

Damn... Sweet Ease is not my style and the music’s so good that I’m still finding a nice groove with this.

Ohhhh I’m feeling this one - Hybrid Society… this is a nice project overall. Quality

Laaar - The Complete Circle for Bees and Orchids
[LOKD]
This project came out Thursday.
Dark, deep downtempo, just how Doris likes it.
The whole project is worth listening to, I’m feeling the Dandara remix.

Marino Canal - Half Life EP
Not my cup of tea but I know a lot of Marino Canal fans, so here you go.

friday sep 10

Arrived in Queretaro, Mexico last night and good lord let me tell you the energy in Mexico is something else. Kids playing in the street, old ladies smiling with me… I’m going to stay for a while.

Anyway, you’re here for your weekly fixings of bangers and beauties, let’s get into it.

*Click the project name for access to the streaming links*

Derun, Murmusica, Tolga Bilgin - Elefante EP
[Underyourskin Records]

2 dope as tracks on this project, I highly recommend this with your morning and afternoon coffee

Landikhan - Yrb Dl Dbl
[RADI MIRA I LUBVI]
This is a nice project. 1 track and 4 remixes, by atalkingdrum, Nikola Melnikov, Robbie Akbal. I’m grooving to the Robbie Akbal remix as I type this, approved!

Clawz SG - Between Shadows & Lights
[Steyoyoke]

9 track album filled with deep emotional tracks. I need to give this the space and listen start to finish. For now, if you want a quick taste, I recommend these tracks: Perpetual Search, Quandary.

Stil vor Talent 300, Pt 3.
The 3rd edition of these Stil vor Talent compilations is out. I’m not in love with it, but you should check it out if it feels right for you. “Distortion Jungle” by Pølaroit is a track I’ve been waiting on for over a year, released on this project.

Xique-Xique - Na Lagoa
[The Magic Movement]

11 track album and there’s some nice sounds on here. I haven’t had the time to sit with it yet, but there’s certainly potential on here. Shoutout to The Magic Movement, I can feel the love for music in your projects.

Olivier Weiter - Avio
[Einmusika Recordings]

Samuel at Einmusika has been sending me love for a few years now. I was naturally drawn to his music, as well as his label. I can’t lie, the human element of this guy takes it to the next level. I will support Einmusika until the end of my days - there’s love and connection being felt and that’s what this is about.
PS The music is pretty fucking nice too.

Red Axes - Some Lights EP
[Phantasy Sound]

I don’t always connect with the Red Axes productions, but I sure as hell respect what they do (assuming it’s more than 1 person). Wacky bangers, there’s some interesting shit on here. I’m feeling “Professor Grasstov.”

Four to the Floor 20
[Diynamic]
Similar story to Red Axes - I don’t always align with the sounds on the FTTF series but goddamn Doris and I appreciate the creativity. In my opinion, they don’t play it safe on these projects. I appreciate that deeply, you have my support, keep SENDING IT.
*update, listening now and there’s some good shit on here

Soukmelange Vol 6
[Souksonic]
New compilation from Souksonic (Lost Desert’s label).
They seem to keep their releases as “Beatport exclusive” for a week or 2 before releasing to streaming services. Can’t find this anywhere, but the snippets are available here.

I’m always looking for feedback on how I can make this better for you. If you have something to share, whether “positive” or constructive criticism, please do share.

For what it’s worth, I receive very little feedback. So if you think that someone else is giving me direction, they are not. You can help me. Let’s build and improve this together.

Much love,
Lee

friday sep 3

First Friday in September and we’re starting it off right.

I’ll be updating this page throughout the day, but this is where I believe you should start:

Colyn - Martian EP
Listened through without any temptation to skip a track, nice project.

Âme - The Witness EP
Make sure you get some good headphones on for this shit.

Our Beatportify (spotify only) playlist has been updated this morning with over 100 new tracks.

Correction there’s over 160 new tracks added today. This leaves me feeling overwhelmed by the amount of music to listen to and generally underwhelmed by the music itself. In the upcoming weeks we’ll have to fine tune our process because right now we are picking up wayyyy too many tunes.

You can view our New Projects page for links to some other projects as well. Wasn’t feeling those quite as much. I’m still figuring out a process that serves both you and I in terms of how to curate/provide links for new music.

Thank you for providing feedback yesterday. It was very helpful to read your comments and tally up the votes.

For those of you interested, here are the results so far:

friday aug 27

Another Friday, another day flooded with new releases.

I’m coming to realize that I don’t get nearly as excited about new music as I did the past 2 years.

Have I become a snob? Has the music quality declined?

When you first start smoking weed, you can smoke low quality marijuana and get high as fuck.

Once you start smoking better weed, you can’t really get high off the low quality shit anymore. You build a tolerance for the substance, and need MORE and/or BETTER weed to get the same high that you used to.

I feel like I am experiencing this with music.

I sort of overdosed. I leaned into music everyday, sometimes all day.

And while that was great, as a result, I’ve seemingly built an internal tolerance to getting high off music.

I still get high off this shit, but damn, it takes a special kind of track to really get me buzzing.

2 years ago, any decent groover with a nice bassline had me going nuts. I was able to channel that energy into making videos and sharing warm vibrations and music recommendations with the world.

Now, I don’t get nearly as energized by new releases, yet I’m still putting in the work to curate and provide links for the community.

Without the ENERGY from the music, I get burnt out.

I’m going to continue with my current process of providing links, but I wanted to share my experience with you transparently.

Today’s music

If you haven’t already, check out our new projects page. So far this includes links for…

Stil vor Talent album (I’m not a fan)
All Day I Dream Summer Sampler 2021
Fidan/Inner Symphony EP (also not a fan)

I’ve been providing links for projects that I don’t like. For example, when a label like All Day I Dream or Stil vor Talent drops an album, I have been posting the links even if I don’t like it.

I feel that there is value in letting you know that a major project came out, whether I like it or not.

How do you feel about this?
